Corporate Freight Management Programme
The Challenge
A leading retail chain operating 35 stores across Ghana was managing freight through multiple logistics providers, resulting in fragmented visibility, inconsistent service levels, and escalating costs. Seasonal demand spikes created regular stockout situations, particularly for imported fast-moving consumer goods.
Our Solution
McDan Shipping was appointed as the sole logistics provider under a managed freight programme. We implemented a centralised freight management platform providing end-to-end visibility across all inbound shipments. Demand forecasting models were developed in collaboration with the client's procurement team, enabling pre-positioned inventory at our warehousing facility. We consolidated all ocean and air freight under negotiated volume contracts.
The Outcome
Total logistics costs reduced by 22% in the first year. Stockout incidents decreased by 67%. Average order-to-shelf time improved from 45 days to 28 days. The centralised platform provided the client's management team with real-time supply chain performance dashboards for the first time.
